Words and ideas in languages

Hi to all. Today I am a little twisted because I must set up clocks with an hour less. No, I don´t leave my country, unfortunately, and this is because of Daylight Saving Time (DST). Such an odd name to say that! Yesterday I have this subject with my French friend that sometimes there are words more appropriates in one language, for example, there is the word "aguantar" in Spanish which means different things such as to bear, to endure, to support, to withstand, to survive the past of time, to hold, to put up with something, to resist, to hold on, to hang on, to last and maybe another thing I have forgotten.

I will give you another example in French that maybe you know. There are words "gourmet" and "gourmand" and "glouton". May be, we can use then like synonims but we will be doing a fault. "Gourmet" means a person who loves the quality of food or drink, that is, he/she eats or drinks in order to identify tastes , while "Gourmand" it is a person who loves eating or drinking and who can´t resist to eat when he/she see food or drink, while "Glouton" is this kind of person who eats very much and a lot of food.

So, it is like a TV show when you speak another language because there are different ways to understand the life or to think about something in each language. It is a kind of challenge because in your language you use an only word to describe an idea and it doesn´t exist in the language you are speaking in that moment. And it is a curious thing because you can use words from another language to describe an idea with a misunderstood as consequence. In this way, my French friend who lives more time in Spain, have a lot of difficulties to speak with only French speakers. May be it is because mind of 2 or more language speakers is more global than people who speaks only one. Therefore, you can understand more things about life, about different cultures and, personally, I think it is a beautiful thing you can show an idea who doesn´t exist in your language and finally, that you can communicate with a foreign person.

May be you think I am crazy but not at all because every people who speaks more than one language can think like me.

Indeed, I believe language is the representation of ideas from one culture, from one way to see and understand the life. So, I find very useful as experience the fact of speak different languages but with one condition: always you must communicate with another person. You will say, "Oh, who is going to speak one language without this finality?" I can say that because, in Spain, there are several regions that speak more and more one language and people forgets the language that links us (the Spanish) with the consequence of, may be in 30 years, a person from Cataluña region could no communicate with a Spanish from another region.

And there are also these languages which have risks to dissappeared with the consequences of losing this way of thinking about like a lot of languages in India which have less than 100 speakers.
