Cataluña independent

Weather forecast: Max 16ºC, Min 8ºC, overcast, no wind.

Hi to all again. I´ve promised myself to keep writing a little. Today, I am not going to talk about my feelings, thanks goodness. Today it´s an important day in Spain: the Cataluña elections.
As all you may know, the Cataluña region -located in the NE of Spain- is trying to achieve their independence. Even though, it isn´t well known at all.

So, I am going to be direct with all they statements in a sum way.

The background:

-Economy:

-        One of the main economy actors.

-        More than 50% trade is based on Spain.

-        The most indebted region in Spain, equivalent to 22% of their GDP

-        They want an especial tax system which one they could have the incomes of their region, not to have a percentage as each Spanish region. But the current Spanish Government rejected it.

-        They have asked a €5 million loan to the Spanish Government because they don´t have enough money to afford Education and Health services - the Spanish Government has just given it.

-Education:

-        Important cut downs since 2012

-        If only do a judge the decision, one can study in Spanish. If not so, only in Catalan, since 2011

-Health services:

-        Important budget cut downs since 2012

-        Rising prices since 2011

-Transport:

-        35% tariff rising in public transport

-        Public transport service deterioration.

-        Gas and diesel tariff rising per liter

-        One of the main Mediterranean ports

-        4 international airports.

What their politicians is claiming:

-        An independent country where:

  •  they could decide, have their taxes.

  •  the Spanish Government puts money for their Health, Security and  Education                services.

  • they could maintain the current trade with Spain.

  • they could have the Euro

  • they could be in Europe

  • Spain supports Cataluña in their EU membership.

The EU opinion: <<we aren´t going to support an unilateral independence of a EU member>>

The Spanish point of view: you can figure it out.

As a result, the Cataluña government has decided to do elections 2 years before so as to hide their economic disaster . Today is that day but no one knows what it will happen.
So, I´m going to claim my independence too. I want that the Spanish Government gives me money for the Health, Security and Education expenses and that I won´t have to pay any tax.

Have a nice day and an incredible Black Friday´s weekend!

P.S.: Ikea hype related pic - ´Welcome to the Independent Republic of my house´
